Notes from the CEO
On Tuesday morning I joined 800 fellow Sacramentans for breakfast at the Downtown Sacramento Partnership’s 16th Annual State of Downtown 2014. The theme of the presentation: the new Entertainment and Sports Complex (ESC) and the transformative impact it will have on our community of businesses and the regional economy. Mayor Kevin Johnson said the ESC will be “uniquely Sacramento,” I think that applies to the whole story of the effort and our community. The civic pride and engagement that this project has brought us, is something that Sacramento residents deserve to have, and we need to work to keep it.
Tim Romani, President & CEO of ICON Venue Group and the keynote speaker for the event hit the nail on the head when he talked about our community remaining united, to “…carry that feeling (of unity) not just for building the arena but for the hotels, offices, housing…” We cannot celebrate our victories of the past year for too long.
Celebrating the win together, means we must also keep the momentum of moving forward together. The ESC is the catalyst, but it is just the beginning. Let’s keep our efforts in driving downtown forward and maintaining our “Uniquley Sacramento” community and civic pride.
