Notes from the CEO
Most Innovative Product in California
Last Wednesday, Innovate North State held the 3rd Annual Sierra Nevada Innovation Challenge at California State University at Chico. The categories were Healthcare and Medical Technology, CleanTech/Consumer Services, Agriculture & Food, and two Web/IT categories – data storage, cloud and saa, and Web/Mobile, Ecommerce, Consumer Web or Web 2.0. Two of the esteemed judges were from Five Star Bank: Mike Rizzo for the CleanTech/Consumer Products Category, while Marcy Sutcliffe judged on the panel for the Agriculture and Food category. As the entrepreneurial bank that supports emerging business and agriculture, we were honored to help judge.
The companies were competing for “Most Innovative Product in California,” the event is an opportunity for these companies to be noticed by angel and venture capital investors, and gain visibility they would otherwise not have. The companies had six minutes to present their products to the judges and explain how their product/service is or will solve a problem in people’s lives, environment or industry. These were the finalists.
AG & FOOD: Silk Road Soda Company
WEB/IT: Work Truck Solutions
WEB/IT: 2 Audio Tag
Clean/Consumer: Intuitive Motion
Ultimately, the “Most Innovative Product in California was Intuitive Motion. When asked what set them apart from a judge’s perspective, Rizzo said, “Good presentation, potentially large market, and a cool product.”
